Constitution Wins Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park

Las Vegas, NV - One of three "Road to the Kentucky Derby" qualifying races took place at Gulfstream Park on Saturday March 29 - the $1 million Grade 1 Florida Derby was contested. Todd Pletcher trained, lightly raced Constitution with the scorching Javier Castellano aboard outdueled Wildcat Red by a neck at 3-1 odds and earned a guaranteed start in the Kentucky Derby with the 100 point haul. 9-2 shot General A Rod finished third while Even-money favorite Cairo Prince finished a lackluster fourth. East Hall, Matador, Spot, and Allstar completed the order of finish.
