Shared Belief Wins Los Alamitos Derby at Los Alamitos Derby
Las Vegas, NV - The $500,000 Grade 2 Los Alamitos Derby, formerly the Swaps Stakes at Hollywood Park was run at Los Alamitos on Saturday, July 5 - a 1 1/8 mile test for three year olds. Last year's 2-year-old juvenile champion erased all questions about his ability to run on dirt with an easy 4 1/2 length win as the overwhelming 3-5 favorite for his fifth straight win. Candy Boy finished second as the morning line second choice while Tonito M. was 7 1/4 lengths farther back in third, followed by Friendswith K Mill, Can the Man, Top Fortitude, and Eddie's First.
