Dortmund Wins Los Alamitos Futurity at Los Alamitos

Las Vegas, NV - The only graded stakes race on North American soil this past weekend, the first ever $500,000 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Futurity (formerly the CashCall Futurity at Hollywood Park) took place on Saturday, December 20 - a 1 1/16 mile test for two year olds. Odds-on 3-5 choice, Bob Baffert trained Dortmund emerged in the small field of five and stayed unbeaten in his short career - this time by a head in track record time over 5-2 shot Firing Line and Mr. Z, who was sent off at 3-1 odds. Dortmund strengthened his status as the early betting favorite for the Kentucky Derby next May - he earned 10 qualifying points with the win. Bench Warrant and No Problem finished well back in fourth and fifth, respectively.
