Las Vegas, NV -- The Grade 2 Peter Pan Stakes comes our way from Belmont Park this Saturday May 12th. Three year olds will race 1 1/8 miles on Belmont's main track in search of their share of the $200,000 purse.

A strong field of 12 including multiple graded stakes winners will go in race 9 on Belmont's Saturday schedule with a post time of 5:06 PM. There is a lot on the line on Saturday - a good showing in the Peter Pan usually results in a spot in the Belmont Stakes on June 9th.

Let's take a closer look at the field and those that should contend in this major prep race.

Peter Pan Stakes Race Favorites

Mark Valeski - was rumoured to start in the Kentucky Derby but bypassed with an eye on later Triple Crown races. Mark Valeski has been good recently with quality second place finishes in his last two races - the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby last time out on April 1st and in the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes on February 25th. Mark Valeski started his year with an Allowance score on January 13th - all of his 2012 results coming at Fair Grounds. He is certainly due for a win and it may come this week.

The Lumber Guy - has four career starts with three wins - the Grade 2 Jerome Stakes last time out on April 21st, the Miracle Wood Stakes on February 25th and a Maiden Special Weight race in January. His only loss was a truly disappointing one - a fifth in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial on April 7th. The Lumber Guy is an impressive prospect that will almost certainly be a part of the Belmont Stakes field.

Remaining Field Entries

Le Bernardin - will be making his stakes debut after two straight wins - an Allowance race on April 7th and a Maiden Special Weight score on March 10th. He has reportedly been training very well and could be a factor from post 4.

Right to Vote - has placed in all four career starts with two wins - one last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming, one second and a third in last October's Grade 1 Champagne Stakes on this track.

Good Morning Diva - most recently won the Calder Derby on April 14th to follow up a disappointing fifth in the Grade 3 Swale Stakes on March 10th. In four career starts, Good Morning Diva has two wins and a third place finish.

Zetterholm - has won three straight races and obviously comes in to the race in very good form. Zetterholm has three wins and a second already this year all at Aqueduct - the last win being the Patsyprospect Stakes on April 6th.

Master Rick - has won two straight races - one a Maiden Special Weight and the other the Northern Spur Stakes last time out at Oaklawn on April 14th. Master Rick has just one third place finish in the four prior to his two wins.

Hakama - has raced four times in 2012 and has a win at an Allowance Optional Claiming on January 4th, a second in the Private Terms Stakes at Laurel Park on March 17th and most recently a third in the Grade Illinois Derby at Hawthorne on April 7th.

Summer Front - will be making his first start on dirt after three wins and a second in his first four career starts. Last time out was a second in the Grade 3 Lexington Stakes April 21st and before that were wins in a Maiden Special Weight, the Dania Beach Stakes and the King Cugat Stakes.

Big Screen - most recently finished a decent second in the Calder Derby but has just one win in six career starts. In three races in 2012 Big Screen has a pair if second place finishes.

Street Life - finished a disappointing sixth last time out in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial Stakes on April 17th but had two straight wins before that - a Maiden Special Weight score and at the Broad Brush Stakes at Aqueduct on March 17th .
