Endeavour Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs - $150,000 (G3)

Las Vegas, NV -- Tampa Bay Downs hosts two graded stakes races on Saturday February 4th, 2012. The $150,000 Grade 3 Endeavour Stakes comes our way as the 10th race on Tampa Bay’s packed Saturday card. The race is open to Fillies and Mares four years old and up and covers 1 1/16 miles in Tampa Bay Downs’s Turf track. Post time is 4:40 PM EST.
A strong field of 10 is confirmed for the Endeavour Stakes and it features multiple graded stakes winners along with a contingent of international talent looking to break through on North American turf.

The Favorites:
Zagora - Zagora is an interesting favourite in this event. She finished 7th last time out in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes in September after an impressive win at the Grade 1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga in July. In 14 career starts, Zagora has placed in 11 – this will be her first start of 2012. Trainer Chad Brown will be looking for a good showing ahead of a possible Breeders’ Cup entry later this year.
Keertana - Keertana is coming off an eight month layoff but was impressive before that – wins at the Grade 3 Louisville Handicap at Churchill Downs in May and the Grey Goose Bewitch Stakes in April. Keertana has won four of her last five starts overall.
The Others:
Master Shade - Master Shade has to be considered an up-and-comer with wins in three of the last five starts. The Italian Bred filly’s three wins on North American soil have come on three different tracks including the Middle Stage Stakes at Aqueduct in November and an Allowance Optional Claiming at Laurel Park in September.
Exclusive Love - most recently ran seventh at the Grade 3 Marshua’s River Stakes at Gulfstream Park after a win in November in an Allowance at Churchill Downs.
Crying Lightening - Crying Lightening makes her second start on US soil after a good career racing all over the globe – Dubai and Europe to name a couple. In her first North American start, Crying Lightening finished a disappointing 10th in the South Beach Stakes at Gulfstream in December.
Dundalk Dust - Dundalk Dust has 13 career starts and six wins to her credit including last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming race at Hawthorne. In October, Dundalk Dust finished fifth in the Illini Princess Handicap at Hawthorne.
Blue Angel Express - Out of 18 starts, 1 first place, four seconds and three thirds is all that Blue Angel Express has managed. Last time out was a 6th place finish in a Claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs and before that was a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Calder.
Martita Sangrita - Another long shot, Martita Sangrita had a third in an Allowance at Tampa Bay and before that a second at the Topicount Stakes at Belmont in October.
Jenny’s So Great - 10th in the Grade 3 Marshua’s River Stakes at Gulfstream January 7th last time out. Before that posted a win in the Lightning City Stakes in December at Tampa Bay Downs.
Abuela - had a 6th place finish last time out at the South Beach Stakes on December 11th but won an Allowance at Keeneland on December 26th.
The Endeavour Stakes is Race 10 at Tampa Bay Downs on Sunday - Post Time of 4:40 PM ET.
