2013 Beaugay Stakes Race Favorites

Dream Peace - Grade 2 winner in France has raced all around the world with mixed results - four wins, two seconds and six third place finishes in 16 career starts. Last time out was a decent third in the Grade 3 E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine back in October (she won the E.P. Taylor in 2011) after an OK third Grade 1 Flower Bowl Invitational, a very good second in the Grade 1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga July 28 and a pair of pedestrian results overseas. Dream Peace has placed in her last three starts overall but hits the track for the first time in six months Saturday. She is your morning line favorite.

Hessonite - is a multiple stakes winner - none of the graded however. She was voted 2012's top New York-bred older female, and in 2011, the year she began racing on turf full-time she was crowned champion turf female. Over the last year, Hessonite has wins at the Ticonderoga Stakes (two years in a row including last time out way back in October), the Irish Linnet Stakes, the Yaddo Stakes both at Saratoga and the John Hettinger Stakes at Belmont Park in September. She was sixth in this race last year and fifth in her only other graded stakes action since - in the Grade 1 Flowed Bowl Invitational in September on this track. She has won four of her last five starts but hasn't raced since October.

In her only start this year she was a distant and disappointing ninth in the Grade 3 Endeavor Stakes February 2 at Tampa Bay Downs.

Pianist - Chad Brown trained filly had a couple straight wins in the summer including the minor Given Stakes at Belmont Park in September. She followed that with a pair of fourths - the Grade 3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes at Keeneland and the Stardusk Stakes behind Channel Lady in November. She had a good score in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream February 7 but most recently finished fifth in the Grade 2 Honey Fox at Gulfstream March 16.

Peace Preserver - Todd Pletcher trained filly won the minor Pebbles Stakes at Belmont Park October 8 but followed that with an eighth in her graded stakes debut - the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere Stakes at Churchill Downs November 17. Ruthenia - had won two straight at this time last year - the Grade 3 Violet Stakes on May 28 and before that was an Allowance Optional Claiming win in April at Gulfstream. Ruthenia has since finished fourth in three straight stakes races - the Grade 3 Eatontown Handicap in June, the Grade 2 Ballston Spa in August and last time out in the Grade 3 Athenia Stakes at Belmont Park way back in October. She makes her first start in nearly six months Saturday hoping to snap her string of fourths having Gone 2-0-1 in five Belmont starts.
