Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Obeah Stakes is on tap for this Saturday, June 15. It comes our way from Delaware Park and features fillies and mares three years old and upward. A purse of $100,000 will be on the line for those willing to go 1 1/8 miles on Delaware Park's main track.

The Obeah Stakes, a major local prep for the $750,000 Delaware Handicap July 20 has attracted a field of six females to run in race 7 on Delaware Park's Saturday schedule. Post time is 4:15 PM. Let's take a brief glance into the past performances of all six entries for this Grade 3 stakes.

2013 Obeah Stakes Race Favorites

Bryan's Jewel - Multiple stakes winner and McLean Robertson trained mare is coming off a win in the minor John W. Rooney Memorial Stakes June 8 on this track after a second place finish in the Winter Melody Stakes also on this track May 22. She last raced in graded stakes company April 12 and finished fifth in the Grade 1 Apple Blossom after experiencing traffic at Oaklawn Park. She has seven wins, five seconds and four third place finishes in 22 career starts. She has three wins on this track and enters as the morning line favorite.

Ciguaraya - won the minor Crowned Stakes over favored Bryan's Jewel on this track November 3 and failed to place in her next two starts. She is coming off a third in the minor Winter Melody Stakes right behind Bryan's Jewel here May 22 and steps up in graded stakes company for the first time Saturday. She has four wins, two seconds and two third place finishes in 14 career starts for trainer Eddie Keneally.

Access to Charlie - is a veteran of 19 career starts, is multiple stakes placed but has yet to race in graded stakes company. He has raced three minor stakes races at Laurel Park this year placing in all - the Conniver Stakes last time out March 23, the Maryland Racing Media Stakes February 23 and the Nellie Morese Stakes January 26. Her last start on this track resulted in a fourth in the minor Stonewall Farm Ocala Unbridled Belle Stakes in August. Access to Charlie has four wins, two seconds and five third place finishes in her 19 career starts.

And Why Not - raced to a seventh in last year's Gulfstream Oaks and followed that with a ninth in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks and an OK third in the minor Go for Wand Stakes in June but had focused on Allowance races until the Grade 3 Bewitch Stakes last time out. She was a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream March 13 after a six month layoff and was eighth in the Bewitch April 25 at Keeneland. She has placed in two of her last eight starts and as just one win in 12 career starts - a MSW in her career debut.

Fire Assay - makes her graded stakes debut Saturday having won two Allowance Optional Claiming races in three starts this year - the other result was a second in the minor Wayward Lass Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs March 16. She has 16 career starts for trainer James Toner with three wins, two seconds and two third place finishes.

Star's Tizzy Fit - Niall Saville trained filly makes her stakes debut Saturday but is coming off a two race win streak - an Allowance last time out April 26 at Pimlico and a Claiming race on that same track April 6. She failed to place in four races before that - all at Gulfstream but has three wins among her nine career starts.
