2013 Los Angeles Handicap Race Favorites

Comma to the Top - Grade 1 winner and Peter Miller trained gelding has won five of his last 10 starts. He won an Allowance at Golden Gate on June 9, the minor Pirate's Bounty Stakes at Del Mar September 5, the Big Bear Handicap at Santa Anita October 21 in wire-to-wire fashion, the Grade 3 Daytona Stakes at Santa Anita December 29 again in gate-to-wire style, the Grade 3 Tom Fool Handicap at Aqueduct March 2 and the minor Cool Frenchy Stakes last time out May 4. Over that span he also has four fourths - April 6 in the Grade 2 Portero Grande Stakes at Santa Anita, the Grade 2 Palos Verdes in January, the Grade 3 Vernon O. Underwood and the Grade 3 Eddie D Stakes in September. It seems to be either wins or fourth place finishes for Comma To The Top - your guess is as good as mine!

Camp Victory - had an impressive win over rival The Factor in the Grade 1 Triple Bend Handicap at Hollywood Park June 30 but has struggled a tad since - a third in the Grade 2 Pat O'Brien August 26 and a sixth in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Sprint Championship October 6. He raced to a disappointing eleventh in the Breeders' Cup Turf in November and has just one start since which resulted in a disappointing fifth in the Grade 2 Potrero Grande Stakes April 6 at Santa Anita. Camp Victory won this race due to a DQ of Amazombie in 2011 and finished third in this race last year.

Centralinteligence - finished an inspiring second in the Grade 3 Los Angeles Handicap on this track last May to follow up an Allowance score at Santa Anita for trainer Ron Ellis. He has just two starts since - a sixth in the Grade 1 Triple Bend Handicap in June led to a nearly 11 month layoff and a fourth in his comeback last time out in the minor Cool Frenchy Stakes here May 4.

Majestic City - Peter Miller trained colt has place in just one of his last five but hasn't raced since July. He had a pair of sixths in minor stakes action before the layoff but had been competitive in 2011 - three straight wins to start his career including the Grade 3 Hollywood Juvenile Championship, a third in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and a second in the Grade 1 Dixiana Futurity. He hasn't tasted victory since July 2011 and will be hard pressed to break that streak this week.

Apriority - Bob Baffert trained Apriority is a graded stakes winner and is a multiple graded stakes placed entry that struggled in 2012 before shutting it down in July. He had a couple of nice seconds at the beginning of last year including the Grade 3 Count Fleet Handicap at Oaklawn Park but has since raced to a pair of sixths and a fifth in the Smile Sprint Handicap in July at Calder. After five months away Apriority returned to a seventh in the Grade 2 Palos Verdes Stakes January 19 and a decent third last time out in the Grade 2 Potrero Grande Stakes at Santa Anita April 16. He hasn't won since December 2011 and hasn't run at Hollywood Park since July 2010.

Fast Bullet - Bob Baffert pupil started his career with two wins before stepping up in the Breeders' Cup Sprint where he finished sixth. He has just one start since then - another win in an Allowance Optional Claiming in December by 7 1/4 lengths. He has been out of action since that score but looked very good in his four starts prior to the layoff.

Tiz Tee Time - makes his graded stakes debut Monday having won two of his last three and three of his last five starts. In his last three overall - all at Oaklawn Park Tiz Tee Time recorded an Allowance Optional Claiming score last time out, a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming and a Claiming victory.
