2013 Appalachian Stakes Race Favorites

Watsdachances - Irish bred filly started her career in Europe but it wasn't until she hit North American soil that she emerged a contender. Watsdachances won her first two starts in America - the P.G. Johnson Stakes in her debut and the Grade 3 Miss Grillo at Belmont Park October 8 and then followed that with a very good second behind Flotilla in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf in November. This will be her first start since that race for trainer Chad Brown. Javier Castellano who has been aboard Watsdachances in all three North American starts will get the mount once again.

Midnight Ballet - has five career starts for trainer Tom Proctor with two wins - an impressive upset score in the Sharp Cat Stakes November 11 and a MSW in her debut. Her last two starts have been disappointments - a seventh last time out in the Grade 3 Rachel Alexandra at Fair Grounds February 23 followed a fifth in the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet December 8. Gary Stevens gets the mount Thursday.
