Las Vegas, NV - The 61st running of the Grade 3 Las Flores Stakes comes our way from Santa Anita Park in beautiful Arcadia, California this Sunday, March 10. A purse of $100,000 will be on the line for fillies and mares four years old and upward willing to dash 6 1/2 furlongs on Santa Anita's dirt track.

2013 Las Flores Stakes Race Favorites

Teddy's Promise - Teddy's Promise is a graded stakes winner that struggled a tad in 2012 before a win two back in the minor Kalookan Queen Stakes here December 29 by 5 1/4 lengths. She continued her stellar racing last time out with a convincing three length win in the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes here January 26. Before her latest two wins Teddy's Promise had an eighth in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint after she set the pace for a half mile. Two straight stakes wins, both on this track has Teddy's Promise the favorite Sunday as she tries to make it three in a row. She has won three of six starts at this distance and is absolutely on top of her game right now.

Shumoos - Group III winner in England returned January 25 to a 2 1/2 length win in an Allowance Optional Claiming after 14 months away from racing. In her North American debut in 2011, she was an impressive second in the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint - a race that launched her into relevance here in America. She had two wins, a second and a third place finish back home in 2011 before debuting at the Breeders' Cup that year - it will be interesting to see if Shumoos can continue where she left off in 2011 and most recently in January.

Sugarinthemorning - had six starts in 2012 with four second place finishes - the Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo three back, the Grade 2 A Gleam four back, the Fran's Valentine Stakes in May and the 2012 Santa Monica Stakes here last January 28 in a race that Home Sweet Aspen won.. Last time out was a good second in the 2013 Santa Monica Stakes after a disappointing seventh as 6-5 favorite in the John Deere California Cup Distaff October 13 to end her 2012 campaign. Sugarinthemorning either finishes out of the money or in second place lately - hopes are that she can break through Sunday after failing to register a win in her last ten starts.

Belle of the Hall Steve Asmussen trainee is graded stakes placed and a multiple stakes winner that has four fourth place finishes in six starts including the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at 49-1 odds, the Grade 1 Ballerina four back, the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Stakes five back and the Grade 2 Vagrancy Stakes six back. She won the minor Valor Lady Stakes at Belmont Park October 3 and is coming off a pedestrian fifth last time out in the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes here January 26.

Distracting - Bob Baffert trained filly has just six career starts but won her first two before a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming four back and a second in the minor Pasadena Handicap as favorite three here January 13. Distracting finished fourth in the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes January 26 and most recently posted an 6 1/2 furlong Allowance score on this track February 21.

Rumor - is a multiple stakes winner although she still has yet to break through in a graded stakes race. Rumor has won five of 13 starts and placed in all except last year's Grade 1 Santa Monica Stakes on January 28, the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint when she finished fifth and last time out in the minor Wishing Well Stakes here February 10. She finished a decent third four back in the Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo and won the minor L.A Woman Stakes here October 7 before her Breeders' Cup experience.

Pink Lollipops - Bob Baffert trained mare has finished fourth in three of her last five starts - all three coming in minor stakes races. She did have an Allowance Optional Claiming score three back here October 20 but is coming off a distant seventh in the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes here January 26.

Quizzical - Mark Glatt trained filly will race in stakes company for the first time Sunday after three straight starts on this track produces a win three back in an Allowance December 29 and a pair of seconds in Allowance action - the last coming February 21.
