Las Vegas, NV - The last of the Prep Races on the "Road to the Kentucky Derby" takes place this Sunday, February 17 from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. A purse of $150,000 will be on the line in the Grade 2 San Vicente Stakes as well as a valuable 10 points in the Derby qualification process when a group of three year olds lines up and goes 1 1/16 miles on Santa Anita's main track.

The San Vicente has attracted a small field of six three years olds to race for the points. It is race 7 on Santa Anita's Sunday card with a post time of 3:36 PM. Here is a brief glance into the past performances of all six combatants ahead of the important Grade 3 Kentucky Derby prep race.

2013 San Vicente Stakes Race Favorites

Treasury Bill - Ron Ellis trained Treasury Bill is coming off a nice 6 1/2 furlong maiden score at Santa Anita January 27 in 1:16.3 to follow and OK third in a similar race at Hollywood Park November 9. Many are looking for Treasury Bill to pay off on Sunday and get on the Kentucky Derby radar.

Belvin - impressive Bob Baffert pupil has just two career starts - a second in his debut at Hollywood Park November 25 and a 6 1/2 furlong maiden score last time out on this track December 26. He takes the leap to graded stakes company Sunday but apparently looks ready!

Shakin It Up - Another Bob Baffert pupil had a win and a second in his two Maiden Special Weight races to start his career - the win coming by an impressive 4 1/2 lengths October 27 at Santa Anita after a second to Super Ninety Nine in his debut. Last time out was a nice third in his stakes debut - the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes at Hollywood Park November 22. He could be a sneaky entry in San Vicente.

Mudflats - highly regarded Doug O'Neill colt had a win two back to follow a fourth in his debut and a third in his second career start. Last time out was a very disappointing seventh in the Grade 2 Jerome Stakes at Aqueduct January 5. He's back at home and at a more comfortable seven furlongs - hopes are he can rise to the occasion and shrug off the ugly result last time out.

War Academy - Bob Baffert trained colt has one career start - one win in a Maiden Special Weight at Hollywood Park November 9.

Caballo Del Ceilo - Steve Asmussen trained colt has four career starts with a win and two second place finishes. He was fifth three back in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and followed that with a second and a win last time out in a pair of Maiden Special Weight races on this track. Yet another intriguing entry into the San Vicente.
