2013 Summer Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Phenomenalmoon - Mark Casse trained colt has some big expectations as does all of Casse's pupils. He enters off a MSW score here August 18 after a third and a fifth respectively in similar races - one at Woodbine and the other at Churchill Downs. He is the most experienced of Casse's pupils entered and may just be his best chance at a Summer Stakes victory. He starts from post 8 with Gary Boulanger in the saddle.

Tropic of Artie - debuted July 20 in this track and finished fifth in the minor Colin Stakes and followed that with an OK second in his only other career start - a MSW also on this track August 24. He will have Patrick Husbands in the saddle from post 2 Saturday.

Summer Stakes 2013 | Remaining Contenders

My Conquestadory - one of two fillies in the field - Mark Casse trainee and daughter of Artie Schiller, will make her career debut in either the Natalma or in the Summer Stakes presented by TVG against juvenile males later in the day at Woodbine. She is entered in both.

Spanish Flower - the other filly entered is one of a long line of entries for the Summer Stakes with just one MSW start in her career. For Spanish Flower it resulted in a second place finish for trainer Mark Frostad August 17. She is also entered in the Natalma Stakes for fillies also on Saturday at Woodbine.

School On a Hill - ships in from Arlington Park for trainer Pavel Vashchenko after on MSW start and one win - that coming August 22.

Grom - has three career starts - all on this track with one win which came two back in a MSW. It served as the only time Grom has placed in his career. Last time out was a fourth in his stakes debut - the minor Clarendon Stakes July 7

Go Bro - Michael Keogh trained colt has just one career start which resulted in a MSW score on this track August 18.

Dig Alittle Deeper - is coming off a second in the minor Swynford Stakes August 24 for trainer Nicholas Gonzalez after a fifth in his debut also on this track in a MSW August 11.

Matador - yet another Mark Casse trainee enters having just one career start - an uncharacteristically poor one for Woodbine's leading trainer - a fourth in the minor Vandal Stakes here August 11.

Asserting Bear - debuted August 4 with an ugly ninth in a MSW race here but bounced back last time out by breaking maiden August 24 in his only other career start.
