Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 American Oaks comes our way from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California this Saturday, May 31. Three year old fillies will takes to Santa Anita's turf track and go 1 1/4 milers searching for the winner's share of the $350,000 purse.

Eight sophomore fillies will line up in the American Oaks - race 8 on Santa Anita's Saturday schedule. Post time is 4:30 PM. Let's take a peek into the past performances of all eight entries for this Grade 1 stakes.

2014 American Oaks Race Favorite Entries

Room Service - the most accomplished of all the entries is coming off two terrific wins - last time out in a dead heat with Rosalind in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland April 5 followed a win over Candy Kitty and Seeking Her Glory in the Grade 3 Herecomesthebride Stakes at Gulfstream March 2. Before that she finished an OK third in the minor Sweetest Chant Stakes for trainer Wayne Catalano and had a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming December 13. She broke maiden at first calling in September at Kentucky Downs and followed that with a third in an Allowance at Churchill Downs October 27. Room Service has placed in all six career starts and has looked terrific in the lead-up to the American Oaks. He has won two of five starts on grass with a second place finish and will have Shaun Bridgmohan aboard the 123 pound top weight from the outside post Saturday.

Nashoba's Gold - Carla Gaines pupil has won three of her four career starts with a second in the other. She enters this weekend having won two straight graded stakes races - the Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes last time out as 7-10 favorite here May 4 after a win in the Grade 3 Providencia also here April 5. Nashoba's Gold has been terrific, particularly on this track, and is expected to be a serious challenger again Saturday. Joe Talamo rides from gate 2.

American Oaks 2014 | Remaining Contenders

Diversy Harbor - Tom Proctor trained filly has four career starts with two wins, a second and a third place finish. Last time out was a third behind Nashoba's Gold and Sweet Bliss in the Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes here May 4 which followed a second behind Nashoba's Gold in the Grade 3 Providencia Stakes also on this track April 5. She started her career with two wins including the minor China Doll Stakes over Nashoba's Gold at Santa Anita March 8. Diversy Harbor has been competitive ever time out and will have the terrific Mike Smith aboard this time from post 7.

Sweet Bliss - is coming off a good second behind Nashoba's Gold last time out in her stakes debut - the Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes on this track May 4 after a third in an Allowance and a maiden score also here in January. She has four career starts with a win, a second and a third place finish and will have Corey Nakatani aboard from post 4.

Tiz the Key - had three starts in 2013 with just a third place finish to show for it. But in two starts this year she has two nice wins - last time out at this distance in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track May 18 after breaking maiden April 4. She does have one stakes start under her belt - a seventh in the minor Surfer Girl Stakes here in October. Tyler Baze has the mount from post 6.

Little Journey - Chad Brown trained French bred filly makes just her second start on North American soil - the first being a third in the listed Edgewood Stakes at Churchill Downs May 2. In seven starts at home she looked good - two wins, two seconds and three third place finishes. Little Journey steps into graded stakes company for the first time Saturday having placed in every career start thus far. She leaves from post 3 with Joe Bravo in the saddle.

Kissin Lucky Lips - will race for the sixth time for trainer Mike Puype - the first time in stakes company. Last time out was a second behind Tiz the Key in an Allowance Optional Claiming after a fourth, a second and a seventh respectively in a trio of Maiden Claiming races on this track this year. She has just two second place finishes in five career starts and will be looking for her first career win Saturday. Kissin Lucky Lips will depart from post 5 with Brice Blanc in the reins.

Loan Savant - Doug O'Neill trainee will race in stakes company for the first time Saturday after 11 career starts produced just one wins, a second and a third place finish. She looks for her first win in seven starts Saturday off an OK third in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track just last week. This after a pair of fourths in similar races the past three months. Mario Gutierrez gets the call from the rail Saturday.
