Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Eclipse Stakes comes our way from Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario this Sunday, June 1. Horses four years old and upward will be featured as they go 1 1/16 miles on Woodbine's All Weather Track searching for the winner's share of the $200,000 purse.

A field of nine older entries have been confirmed for the Eclipse - race 8 on Woodbine's Sunday card. Post time is 4:39 PM. Let's take a look into the credentials of all nine combatants for this Grade 2 stakes.

2014 Eclipse Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Alpha Bettor - Sovereign Award winner as Canada's champion older horse of 2013 won this race over Delegation last year at 13-1 odds. He has 27 career starts - 26 at Woodbine and has won his last two starts overall - an Allowance last time out here May 10 and the Grade 2 Autumn Stakes to close out his 2013 campaign November 15. He also won the Grade 3 Seagram Cup two straight years including August 3 of last year but he followed that with a tenth in the minor Presque Isle Mile Stakes September 8 in his only race outside of Ontario. Alpha Bettor followed his tenth with a good second in the Grade 3 Durham Cup behind James Street October 6. Other good results include an OK third in the Grade 3 Dominion Day Stakes behind James Street. He has won three of his last five starts overall and has placed in six of his last seven and enters in good form after two straight wins. Alpha Bettor leaves from the inside post with Justin Stein in the saddle on the 122 pound highweight.

Frac Daddy - raced to a sixteenth in last year's Kentucky Derby and was fourteenth in the Belmont Stakes for trainer Kenneth McPeek but has looked much better in seven starts since - three wins and two seconds. He enters this weekend off a somewhat disappointing fourth in the Grade 1 Man o' War Stakes at Belmont Park May 11 after a terrific 4 3/4 length win in the Grade 3 Ben Ali Stakes at Keeneland April 19 and a pair of good seconds - behind Red Rifle in the minor Maxxam Gold Cup at Sam Houston March 1 and in the Grade 3 Commonwealth Turf at Churchill Downs November 16. Before that was an Allowance score in October. Frac Daddy has two wins and two seconds in his last five starts overall and has four wins and five second place finishes in 15 career starts. He enters in decent form and starts from gate 5 with Luis Contreras guiding him in his Woodbine debut.

Really Sharp - Ian Black pupil is coming off a terrific win on this track in the Grade 3 Vigil Stakes at 28-1 odds May 11 after a third place finish in the minor Jacques Cartier Stakes behind Dan the Tin Man and Victory Exchange April 13. Before that was He also had a third in the Grade 2 Nashua River Stakes in November 2012. Really Sharp has two wins, one second and three third place finishes in 11 career starts but is coming off a career best performance last time out. He looks to build on that effort with Steven Ronald Bahen aboard from post 6.

His Race to Win - has won four of his last six starts and three of his last four on this track including an Allowance last time out and the Grade 3 Ontario Derby by 2 1/4 lengths in September in his only graded stakes action to date. He also had an Allowance score in August and a MSW in May and had a second in the minor Plate Trial Stakes in June. His Race to Win enters in the best form of his career, looking for his second straight graded stakes score. Eurico Rosa Da Silva rides from post 7 as His Race to Win looks for his fourth win on Woodbine Polytrack.

Are You Kidding Me - was last seen winning in impressive style - by four lengths in the Grade 3 Kent Stakes at Delaware Park in September. Before that he raced to a second in the minor Toronto Cup and a fifth in the minor Charley Barley Stakes - both results on this track. His last graded stakes race on this track came in September, 2012 - a good second in the Grade 2 Summer Stakes but he struggled after that - a fifth in the Grade 1 Breeders' Futurity and an eighth in the Grade 1 Florida Derby. Are You Kidding Me had three wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 13 career starts and looks to build on a good effort last time out - although it was nearly nine months ago. He leaves from post 3 with Rajiv Maragh in the reins.

Peyton - raced some big races on this track last year with some unflattering results including a thirteenth in the Queen's Plate, a tenth in the Breeders' Stakes and a sixth in the Grade 3 Ontario Derby. In 2013 Peyton had a fourth in the Grade 3 Seagram Cup, an ugly eighth in the Grade 2 Sky Classic, an Allowance score on this track September 13. He went on to an OK fourth in the Grade 3 Durham Cup here October 6, a seventh in the Grade 2 Autumn Stakes and an OK third in the 2013 Valedictory Stakes here in December. Peyton has two Allowance starts on this track this year - a third last time out and a fourth in April. He has placed in two of his last three starts and will be looking for his first win since September with Jesse Campbell aboard from post 4.

Stealcase - won the Grade 3 Ontario Derby in September, 2012 and has eight starts since. He has been at his best in the last four starts however - coming off a pair of seconds the last couple of months - in an Allowance behind Alpha Bettor on this track May 10 and in the Grade 3 Ben Ali Stakes at Keeneland April 19. This after an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Oaklawn Park January 26 and a third in the minor Fifth Season Stakes January 11. Stealcase has been at or near the top in every start this year and could challenge Sunday. He starts from post 2 with Patrick Husbands in the saddle.

Awesome Overture - ended his 2013 campaign with a fourth in the Grade 3 Valedictory Stakes on this track December 15 and posted a disappointing seventh in his only start of 2014 - an Allowance at Keeneland April 16 Before the Valedictory was a sixth in the Grade 2 Autumn Stakes here November 15 after a third behind James Street and Alpha Bettor in the Grade 3 Durham Cup, a second in an Allowance behind Peyton as 3-5 favorite and another third in the Grade 3 Seagram Cup. He has been in the money in six of 10 career starts but has failed to hit the board in his last three starts overall. Omar Moreno has the mount from post 8 Sunday.

Hampstead Heath - Brian Lynch trained gelding enters having finished eighth in both starts this year - an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out March 29 and the Grade 3 Canadian Turf Stakes February 22 - both results at Gulfstream. He raced in graded stakes company for the first time in the Grade 2 Nijinsky Stakes here July 21 and finished a very good second and followed that with another second in the Grade 2 Sky Classic August 18 and a disappointing fifth in the Grade 1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes at Woodbine September 15. Prior to those result he had 10 career starts with three wins, two second and four third place finishes. Hamstead Heath was very good last summer but has failed to place in his last three starts overall. He hopes to regain his summer form with Emma-Jayne Wilson aboard from the outside post.
