2015 San Clemente Handicap Race Favorites

Sunset Glow - multiple graded stakes winning Wesley Ward trained filly has placed in all eight career starts - three wins, four seconds and a third place finish. She posted consecutive graded scores on Del Mar's synthetic track last summer - the Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes August 6 and the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante Stakes August 30 and went on to a respectable second to Lady Eli in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies to end her 2014 campaign. She has two starts so far this year -last time out was a second in the minor Wait a While Stakes at Belmont Park May 16 after a third in the Grade 3 Appalachian Stakes at Keeneland in April. Sunset Glow has been competitive every time out and looks to make it 3-for-3 at Del Mar when she departs from gate 2 with Gary Stevens aboard the likely favorite for the first time.

Prize Exhibit - British bred James Cassidy trained filly has 14 career starts already with four wins, a second and a third place finish. She enters this weekend off a career-best effort - a win after closing from ninth in the Grade 3 Senorita Stakes at Santa Anita June 27 after failing to hit the board in her previous three starts. She was fifth in the minor Penn Oaks May 30, fourth in the Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes May 3 and fourth in the Grade 3 Providencia Stakes in April. She also finished fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile fillies in October. Prize Exhibit has been OK - she has won two of her last five starts but has failed to place in four others since October. Prize Exhibit hopes to build on the momentum she gained after a terrific win last time out and will have Santiago Gonzalez in the reins from post 5.

Those results followed a game third in her North American debut - the minor Sweet Life Stakes at Santa Anita February 14. Spirit of Xian looks to keep the roll going when she departs from post 9 with Joe Talamo guiding her.

Her Emmynency - has three wins and a second place finish in four career starts for trainer Michael Stidham. She finished second behind Sunset Glow in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante on this track in August and has since reeled off two straight wins - the minor Surfer Girl Stakes at Santa Anita in October and an Allowance Optional Claiming at Arlington June 20 - her only start of 2015. Her Emmynency is expected to be competitive again Sunday when she lines up in post 7 with Rafael Bejarano in the saddle.

Moyo Honey - Peter Gallagher trainee will hit the track for just the third time Sunday off a maiden score in her second start - at Santa Anita June 20. Her debut was a second place finish May 3. Moyo Honey steps into stakes company for the first time Sunday and will have Drayden Van Dyke guiding her from post 3.

Screaming Skylar - Peter Miller trained filly has two wins and a third place finish in seven career starts but has failed to place in two career graded stakes starts. Last time out was a fifth in the Grade 3 Senorita Stakes at Santa Anita June 27 which followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score May 30 and an eighth in the Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes May 3. Screaming Skylar has won two of her last four starts but has failed to place in the other two - the disappointing results coming in graded stakes company. Pammy Whammy - will make her stakes debut Sunday for trainer Peter Miller off a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming June 18 and a maiden Claiming score in May. She has placed in two of her four career starts while looking just OK in those races. Campionessa Dolce - Carla Gaines trained filly has four career starts with two wins. She makes her stakes debut Sunday off a sixth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita June 11 after consecutive wins - an Allowance Optional Claiming May 10 and a maiden score in October -both results at Golden Gate.
