Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Holy Bull Stakes comes our way from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida on Saturday, January 24. A nice purse of $400,000 and 10 qualifying points toward the Kentucky Derby in May will be on the line for three years olds willing to go 1 1/16 miles on Gulfstream's dirt track.

The Holy Bull has attracted a field of 10 three years olds to go in race 9 on Gulfstream's packed Saturday card. Post time is 4:34 PM. Here is a brief glance into the past performances of all 10 entries for this important prep for the $1 million Florida Derby March 28.

2015 Holy Bull Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Upstart - Richard Violette trained colt started his career with two nice wins - the minor Funny Cide Stakes at Saratoga August 24 with a 95 Beyer Speed Figure after a maiden score at first asking. Last time out was a good third behind Texas Red and Carpe Diem in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile which followed a respectable second behind Daredevil in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park October 4. He is the most accomplished of the entries and will have Jose Ortiz Jr. aboard from gate 8.

Frosted - Kiaran McLaughlin trained colt raced in stakes company for the first time November 29 and finished a very respectable second as 9-5 favorite in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct. That showing followed three MSW races to start his career. He finally broke maiden in his third start - by an impressive 5 1/2 lengths October 30 after a pair of seconds to begin his career. That makes a win and three second place finishes in four career starts - competitive every time out. He will have Irad Ortiz in the saddle looking to keep the upward trend going from the rail Saturday.

Bluegrass Singer - Marcus Vitali trained gelding has placed in six of seven career starts - three wins, a second and two third place finishes. He enters on a tidy two race wire-to-wire win streak - the minor Mucho Macho Man Stakes January 3 and by 4 1/2 lengths in an Allowance Optional Claiming December 17 - both wins coming on this track. Before that was a third in the minor Buffalo Man Stakes in November and a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming in October. Bluegrass Singer makes his graded stakes in good form having won three of four starts on this track. Rafael Hernandez has the mount from gate 4. Bluegrass Singer is also entered in the Hutcheson Stakes earlier on the card

Frammento - Nick Zito pupil makes his stakes debut Saturday off a second behind Bluegrass Singer in an Allowance Optional Claiming here December 17, a fourth in a similar race at Churchill Downs in November and a maiden score in his second career start - at Keeneland in October. Luis Saez will be aboard Frammento in his huge step up in competition from post 7.

First Down - Thomas Albertani trained colt has two career starts with one win - a maiden score by three lengths over Frosted at first asking at Belmont Park in September. His other career result was an OK fourth in the Grade 2 Nashua Stakes at Aqueduct November 2. First Down looks to remain competitive with Rajiv Maragh guiding him from post 6 Saturday.

Keen Ice - Dale Romans pupil has four career starts with one win and a third place finish to show for it - the third coming last time out behind Frosted in the Grade 2 Remsen at Aqueduct November 29. He had a maiden score in his second career start at Churchill Downs September 6 and was fifth two back in the Grade 1 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland October 4. Keen Ice has looked OK in graded stakes company but looks for his first win - with Edgard Zayas in the saddle from post 2.

High Noon Rider - George Weaver trained colt has four career starts with a win and two third place finishes. He makes his graded stakes debut off an OK third in the minor Remington Springboard Mile December 14 and a maiden score in his third career start. Joel Rosario gets the mount Saturday from post 3.

Decision Day - Josie Carroll trained colt has three career starts and has been competitive in all - two wins and a second place finish. He makes his graded stakes debut off a nice win in the minor Coronation Futurity at Woodbine November 29 and a maiden score in his second career start. Decision Day looks ready for his graded stakes debut as he leaves from the outside post with John Velazquez in the irons.

Juan and Bina - will race for the fourth time Saturday - for the first time in graded stakes company. Last time out was a fifth in the minor Mucho Macho Man Stakes on this track January 3 which followed a good second in the minor Smooth Air Stakes at Gulfstream Park West November 29 and a maiden score at first asking at Gulfstream Park West November 2. Jose Lezcano will be in charge as Juan and Bina looks for his first stakes win from post 5.

Dom the Bomb - Larry Rivelli trained colt has won three of his four career starts - two straight minor stakes scores ahead of this weekend. Last time out was a win in the Jim Edgar Illinois Futurity at Hawthorne December 13 and before that his win came in the Sun Power Stakes on that same track November 22. Dom the Bomb makes his graded stakes debut in good form - with Javier Castellano guiding him from post 9. He is also entered in the Grade 3 Hutcheson Stakes earlier on the card.
