2016 Sands Point Stakes Race Preview at Belmont Park

On Leave 5-2 - impressive Shug McGaughey trained filly has placed in all five career starts - three wins, a second and a third place finish. She enters on a nice three race win streak - her stakes debut - the minor Riskaverse Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths last time out at Saratoga August 25, an Allowance Optional Claiming July 17 and a maiden score in June. On Leave was untouchable this past summer and hopes to keep the roll going in her graded stakes bow. Jose Ortiz rides the morning line favorite from post 5.

Diamond Fields 4-1 - Irish bred Tommy Stack trained filly has a win, four seconds and a third place finish in 10 career starts. She made her North American debut July 22 and finished a disappointing eighth in the Grade 2 Lake George Stakes at Saratoga July 22 and has one start since - an OK third in the Grade 2 Lake Placid Stakes also at Saratoga August 21. At home she had a second in the Sandringham Handicap at Ascot June 15, a fourth in the Group 3 TRM Ballyogan Stakes June 4 and another pair of seconds in races this past spring including the Coolmore Stud and Power Stakes in May. Diamond Fields has been a tad inconsistent and will be after her first win in a year Saturday. She has placed in two of her last four starts overall however and will leave from gate 2 with Junior Alvarado in the irons of the second betting choice.

A Jazi 7-2 - Francois Rohaut trained Irish bred filly has placed in seven of nine career starts - three wins, a second and three third place finishes. She makes her North American debut Saturday off a good win in the Group 3 Lormarins Queens Plate Oak Tree Stakes overseas, a fourth in the Prix Amandine July 4 and an Allowance score in May. She has been competitive every time out and off her biggest win to date could be a factor. Gregory Benoit will be in the saddle of the morning line third choice from the outside post 7.

Tin Type Gal 5-1 - Graham Motion trained filly has won three of her six career starts - failing to place in the others. Last time out was a disappointing fifth in the competitive Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks August 20 which followed a career-best outing - a win in the Grade 3 Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth Park July 24, a disappointing fifth in the minor Wild Applause Stakes at Belmont Park June 19, nine months away, a nice win in the Grade 3 Miss Grillo Stakes on that track in September and a maiden score at Saratoga last August. Tin Type Gal has been great at times, not so good at others and will be out to gain a little consistency from gate 4 Saturday. Trevor McCarthy has the mount.

Galileo's Song 6-1 - Irish bred Chad Brown trained filly has placed in four of five career starts - two wins and two second place finishes. She made her stakes debut last time out and finished a respectable second - by a neck behind Tin Type Gal in the Grade 3 Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth Park July 24. Before that was an Allowance Optional Claiming score July 2, a second in a similar race June 4 and a maiden score May 5 - all at Belmont Park. Galileo's Song has been decent in her career and looks prime for her first stakes score. Jose Lezcano has the mount from the rail.

Elysea's World 6-1 - Irish bred Chad Brown trained filly has two wins and a second place finish in five career starts. Last time out was a fourth in the Grade 2 Lake Placid Stakes at Saratoga August 21 after a respectable second in the Grade 3 Lake George Stakes July 22, a rather successful step into stakes company - a sixth in the minor $200,000 Wonder Again Stakes at Belmont Park June 5, an Allowance Optional Claiming score in May on that track and a maiden score at first asking - overseas last June. Elysea's World has been inconsistent and will be after her first stakes score from gate 6 Saturday. John Velazquez has been tabbed to ride.

Noble Beauty 8-1 - has five career starts for trainer Chad Brown with two wins and a pair of runner-up finishes. Last time out was a career best effort - a win after crossing the line second and getting elevated to first after the DQ of Try Your Luck in the Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes at Arlington August 13. That followed an ugly eighth in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational July 9 and a pair of decent runner-up finishes - in the Grade 3 Regret Stakes at Churchill Downs June 18 and the minor Honey Rider Stakes at Gulfstream in May. She has been a factor in every race so far, except one and hopes for a second straight graded stakes score from post 3. Javier Castellano gets the call
