2016 Kent Stakes Race Preview at Delaware Park

Inspector Lynley 5-2 - Shug McGaughey trained colt broke maiden at Gulfstream in February and has been decent since. Last time out was an OK second in an Allowance Optional Claiming in June after a sixth in a similar race in May and a good third in his only stakes action to date - the Grade 3 Transylvania Stakes at Keeneland in April. Inspector Lynley has been competitive almost every time out and will chase his first graded stakes score from gate 2. Joel Rosario will be in the saddle of the tepid morning line favorite from gate 2.

Mighty Mo 7-2 - Bill Mott send out Mighty Mo for his graded stakes debut. Last time out was a fourth in the minor Paradise Creek Stakes at Belmont Park May 28 which followed a respectable second in the minor Woodhaven Stakes at Aqueduct in April and a maiden score at Gulfstream in March. Mighty Mo arrives with some hype and will be looking for his first stakes score from the outside gate 8 Saturday. Edgar Prado will be in the irons of the morning line second choice.

Converge 4-1 - Chad Brown trained colt has placed in three of six career starts but hasn't hit the board in his last three - a seventh last time out in the Grade 3 Pennine Ridge Stakes at Belmont Park June 4 followed a sixth in the Grade 2 American Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs May 7 and a fourth in the Grade 3 Transylvania Stakes at Keeneland April 8. Before that was a terrific win the Grade 3 Palm Beach Stakes at Gulfstream February 27, a decent runner-up finish in the minor Awad Stakes here October 30 and a maiden score at first asking - September 19 also at Belmont Park. Converge had been impressive but will be out to snap a three race funk from gate 4 Saturday. Kendrick Carmouche has been scheduled to ride the third betting choice.

Ketstoneforvictory 6-1 - Michael Maker trained colt has won four of eight career starts and three of his last four overall. He enters off a nice win in the minor Forty Niner Stakes at Gulfstream Park June 18 after an Allowance score at Churchill Downs May 14, a seventh in the minor Rushaway Stakes at Turfway Park in April and a Starter Optional Claiming score in March. Keystoneforvictory looks ready for his graded stakes debut and will have Daniel Centeno in the reins from post 5.

American Patriot 6-1 - Todd Pletcher trained colt has two wins and two third place finishes in five career starts - two wins in his last three starts. Lat time out was a three length Allowance Optional Claiming score at Belmont Park June 25 after an ugly tenth in his only stakes action to date - the Grade 2 American Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs May 7 and a maiden score at Keeneland in April. American Patriot has been competitive so far and will be after his first stakes score from gate 6. Jose Ortiz rides.

Mudtap 8-1 - has nine career starts for trainer Steve Asmussen with two wins, a second and two third place finishes. Last time out was a second in an Allowance June 25 after a third in a similar race May 29 (both at Belmont Park), a sixth in the minor Northern Spur Stakes at Oaklawn Park in April and a twelfth in the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes on that track in March. Mudtap has been OK in Allowance company but hasn't found his form in stakes races so far. Jockey Trevor McCarthy hopes to change all of that from post 7 Saturday.

He'll Pay 10-1 - Larry Jones trained colt has two wins, a second and a third place finish in 10 career starts. He makes his graded stakes debut Saturday off a troubled fourth in the minor Stanton Stakes here June 22, a fifth in the minor James W. Murphy Stakes at Pimlico in May and a two race win streak - the best of which coming in the minor Rushaway Stakes at Turfway Park in April. He'll Pay has been OK so far in his career and will be out to replicate his form from three starts back - from the rail. Florent Geroux has the mount on this intriguing longshot.

Highly Prized 15-1 - British bred Niall Saville trained colt has a win and three runner-up finishes in seven career starts. He makes his graded stakes debut Saturday off a fifth in the minor Woodhaven Stakes at Aqueduct April 23, a second in an Allowance at Laurel Park April 2, another second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Tampa Bay in January and a maiden score in his North American debut - at Gulfstream Park in December. Highly Prized has been decent against lesser company but struggled last time out in his stakes debut. He tries to get over the hump Saturday from post 3 with Alex Cintron guiding him.
