Uni Wins Sands Point Stakes at Belmont Park

The $400,000 G2 Sands Point Stakes took place Saturday, September 16 at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. Three-year olds fillies took to Belmont Park's Inner turf track and raced 1 1/8 miles. The Chad Brown-trained 3-1 race favorite Uni, after some close calls was finally able to record her first graded stakes score - by just a neck over 4-1 third choice La Coronel who led most of the way but was caught in the end. 15-1 shot Fault finished a quality third in the field of eight with Inflexibility fourth, Fifty Five fifth and, 7-2 second choice Vue Fantastique, Empressof the Nile and Defiant Honor completing the order of finish. Bonita Bianca and Chastise scratched.
