2015 Barbara Fritchie Handicap Race Favorite Entries

Sam's Sister - Jerry Hollendorfer trained filly has been very impressive in her six race career - five wins. She made a successful step up into graded stakes company two back - a nice win in the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes at 12-1 odds at Santa Anita December 26 and followed that with another impressive win last time out - by 1 1/4 lengths in the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes also at Santa Anita January 19 - both at the Fritchie distance. Sam' Sister's only blemish came November 21 - an eighth in her only turf start - in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Del Mar but her most recent results have made that a distant memory. She tries to make it three straight graded stakes scores Saturday as the one to beat with Elvis Trujillo in the saddle of the 123 pound highweight from post 10.

Princess Violet - Michael Hushion trained filly has eight career starts with four wins and three second place finishes. She enters off a second as 2-1 favorite in the Grade 3 Go for Wand Handicap at Aqueduct November 28 and consecutive wins - the minor Empire Distaff Handicap by 5 1/2 lengths at Belmont Park October 18 and an Allowance in dominant fashion on that same track two weeks earlier. She stepped into stakes company five back and finished a very good second behind Untapable in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park June 28 and followed that with a seventh in the Grade 2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga in August. Princess Violet looks to keep the roll going and for her first graded stakes score from post 2 with Jose Ortiz guiding her.

Sheldon Russell will be in the saddle from gate 4 hoping to cure some inconsistencies for this experienced entry.

Best Behavior - Martin Wolfson trained mare makes her graded stakes debut Saturday having recorded three wins and two seconds in her last five starts overall. Last time out was a second in the minor Miami Shores Handicap January 7 after a win in the minor Glass Slipper Stakes (both results on this track), a second in the minor Sky Beauty Stakes at Gulfstream Park West in November and consecutive Allowance Optional Claiming scores here during the summer. Miss Mischief - 2013 Pearl City Stakes winner, Dale Campuano trained mare has 15 career starts with six wins - three straight this past summer at Presque Isle Downs including the minor HBPA stakes but stumbled in her last two start - both stakes races. Last time out was a fourth in the minor Nellie Morse Stakes on this track January 3 after a fifth in the Grade 3 Maple Leaf Stakes at Woodbine in November - her only graded stakes action to date. Miss Mischief looks to get back to her summer form and for her first graded stakes score from post 3 with Victor Carrasco aboard.
