Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack Results

Las Vegas, NV - There were two "Road to the Kentucky Derby" qualifying races this weekend - one taking place on the West Coast and the other going down on the East Coast. At Aqueduct Racetrack in New York, Todd Pletcher's Verrazano, the 4-5 favorite kept his unbeaten streak alive with his most impressive score to date - a three quarters of a length win in the $1 million Grade 1 Wood Memorial. In turn he earned 100 points and guaranteed himself a place in the Run for the Roses next month. Chad Brown trained Normandy Invasion finished a very good second at 7-2 odds and also officially qualified for the Kentucky Derby after earning 40 points for his effort. Vyjack finished a neck back in third leaving the door wide open for qualification in next month's Kentucky Derby while Mr. Palmer was fourth while Elnaawi, Chrisandthecapper, Quinzieme Monarque, Go Get the Basil, and Always in a Tiz completed the order of finish.
