Catholic Boy Wins Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct

Aqueduct Racetrack in South Ozone Park, New York played host to the $250,000 G2 Remsen Stakes on Saturday, December 2 - a 1 1/8-mile dirt test for some of the best two-year-olds in the land. It was 4-1 third betting choice Catholic Boy that proved much the best on the day, cruising to a decisive 4 3/4 length victory and earning 10 qualifying points toward next year's Kentucky Derby in the process. 2-1 favorite Avery Island held on for second in the field of 10, 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Lael Stables and Three Chimneys Farm's Vouch who got in for third at 11-1 odds. 3-1 second choice Alkhaatam was another 4 3/4 lengths behind in fourth, earning the final Derby qualifying point while Tap Rap Strike, Biblical, Millionaire Runner, Triple Dog Dare, V. I. P. Code and Bandito completed the order of finish.
