Irish War Cry Wins Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack

The $750,000 G2 Wood Memorial Stakes took place Saturday, April 8 at Aqueduct Racetrack in South Ozone Park, New York - a 1 1/8 mile "Road to the Kentucky Derby" dirt test for three year olds. It was New Jersey bred, slight 7-2 favorite Irish War Cry that rebounded from a disappointing seventh in the Fountain of Youth Stakes and made a statement Saturday - winning by a relatively easy 3 1/2 lengths. Co 2-1 second choices Battalion Runner and Cloud Computing finished second and third respectively in the field of eight while the order of finish was completed by True Timber, Bonus Points, Glennrichment, Mo Town, and Stretch's Stone.
