Tonalist Wins Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park

Las Vegas, NV - Belmont Park in Elmont, New York was the scene of the $1 million Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes on Saturday, October 3 - a 1 1/4 mile race for older horses. Even money favorite Tonalist continued his Belmont Park mastery emerging by a relatively easy 4 3/4 lengths. Tonalist earned an automatic bid into the Oct. 31 Breeders' Cup Classic with the win. 7-1 shot Wicked Strong finished a good second with Effinex Claiming third at 5-1 odds. Coach Inge finished fourth in the field of six with Looks to Spare and Constitution completing the order of finish.
