On Leave Wins Sands Point Stakes at Belmont Park

The $500,000 Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes was run Saturday, September 17 at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York - a 1 1/8 mile Inner turf test for three year old fillies. Stuart Janney III's homebred, 3-5 race favorite On Leave posted the easy gate-to-wire win in her graded stakes debut - by an impressive 2 3/4 lengths. 8-1 shot Diamond Fields got up for second in the field of six while Tin Type Gal took third, a neck back at 5-1 odds. Al Jazi was fourth while Galileo's Song, and Elysea's World completed the order of finish. Noble Beauty scratched.
