Sea Calisi Wins Sheepshead Bay Stakes at Belmont Park
The $200,000 Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes went down at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York on Saturday, May 7 - a 1 3/8 mile test for fillies and mares four years old and upward on Belmont Park's Inner Turf Track. Chad Brown trained heavy 3-5 favorite Sea Calisi made her American debut one to remember, winning by 2 1/2 lengths in the field of just five. Guapaza, the 5-2 second choice, also trained by Brown, finished second, 2 1/4 lengths ahead of 7-1 shot Robillard who got in for third. Selenite and Nakuti (IRE) completed the order of finish while Carla Bianca (IRE) scratched.
