Oscar Performance Wins Belmont Derby Invitational at Belmont Park
The $1.2 million G1 Belmont Derby Invitational took place Saturday, July 8 at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. Horses three years old took to Belmont Park's Inner turf track and raced 1 1/4 miles. Amerman Racing's homebred, 5-1 third choice Oscar Performance claimed the front-running victory - by two lengths in the field of 11. French import Called To the Bar finished a good second at 6-1 odds on Saturday with G3 winning Irish entry, 11-1 shot Homesman getting in for third. Good Samaritan closed from 11th to finish fourth, with Japanese bred 3-1 favorite Yoshida in fifth and Makarios, Whitecliffsofdover, Big Score, Ticonderoga, Senior Investment, and 9-2 second choice Arklow, completing the order of finish.
