Sharp Azteca Wins Kelso Handicap at Belmont Park
Belmont Park in Elmont, New York played host to the $300,000 G2 Kelso Handicap on Saturday, September 23. Horses three years old and upward took to Belmont Park's dirt track and raced one mile. It was Jorge Navarro trained 1-2 race favorite Sharp Azteca that dominated, securing a four-length victory in gate-to-wire fashion. 2-1 second betting choice Divining Rod finished second in the field of six with Tom's Ready another 5 1/4 lengths back in third at 8-1 odds. Tommy Macho was fourth with Ross and Bird Song completing the order of finish.
