Hawksmoor Wins New York Stakes at Belmont Park
Belmont Park in Elmont, New York was the scene of the $500,000 G2 New York Stakes Friday, June 9 - a 1 1/4-mile Inner turf test for fillies and mares four years old and upward. It was Irish bred daughter of Azamour - 11-1 shot Hawksmoor that posted her second North American graded stakes score - this time by one length over Quidura who was sent off at 7-2 odds. Quidura finished 1 1/2 lengths clear of third-place finisher Kitten's Roar who was also dismissed at 12-1 odds in the eight-horse field. The two 5-2 co-favorites were next - Sea Calisi was fourth and Suffused was fifth while Dacita, who was sent off at 3-1 odds, Apple Betty and Summersault completed the order of finish. Sassy Little Lila scratched.
