Connect Wins Westchester Stakes at Belmont Park
Belmont Park in Elmont, New York played host to the $200,000 G3 Westchester Stakes on Saturday, May 6 - a one mile dirt test for horses four years old and upward. Paul Pompa's grade 1 winner and 1-2 race favorite Connect stayed impressive - he won for the sixth time in eight starts, this time by a relatively easy 4 3/4 lengths. 20-1 longshot Virtual Machine held on for second in the field of eight with Frammento, who was dismissed at 60-1 just holding off 9-2 second choice Mohaymen for third. After Mohaymen in fourth came Realm, Greenpointcrusader and Vorticity to complete the order of finish.
