Always Dreaming Wins Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park

Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida played host to the $1 million Florida Derby on Saturday, April 5 - a 1 1/8 mile dirt test for Kentucky Derby hopefuls. It was 5-2 second choice Always Dreaming that came up with the easy win in his graded stakes debut - by five lengths and gained an automatic berth into the Derby with his 100 point haul. 4-1 third choice State of Honor finished a decent second d gained 40 qualifying points in the field of 10 while even money favorite Gunnevera got in for a somewhat disappointing third and earned 20 valuable points. Impressive Edge was fourth while Three Rules, Talk Logistics, Coleman Rocky, Unbridled Holiday, Charlie the Greek and Quinientos completed the order of finish. Battalion Runner scratched.
