Arrogate Wins Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park
The richest race in the world - the inaugural $12 million G1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes was run Saturday, January 28 at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. It was the up-and-coming, 3-year-old Eclipse Award winning 4-5 second betting choice Arrogate that parlayed his win in the Breeders' Cup Classic with another terrific, dominating six length win - a win that effectively signaled an end to the California Chrome era and a possible beginning of Arrogate's time to shine. Shaman Ghost finished a quality second at 19-1 odds in the field of 12 while 23-1 shot Neolithic got in for third. Keen Ice finished fourth with War Story fifth and Noble Bird sixth. Semper Fortis, Breaking Lucky, the retiring 6-5 favorite California Chrome, Prayer for Relief, War Envoy and Eragon completed the order of finish. Madefromlucky, Sea Raven and Stanford scratched.
