Shakhimat Wins Tropical Turf Stakes at Gulfstream Park
The $100,000 G3 Tropical Turf Stakes was run Saturday, December 16 at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida - a one-mile turf test for horses three years old and upward. It was 11-1 outsider Shakhimat that proved best on the day, earning his first graded stakes score in over a year - by three-quarters of a length in the filed of eight. 9-1 shot Galton finished a good second with Tower of Texas getting in for third as the 5-1 fourth choice. Blacktype, the 2-1 favorite had to rally just to capture fourth while 3-1 second betting choice All Included, Camelot Kitten, Western Reserve, and One Go All Go completed the order of finish.
