Classic Empire Wins Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland Race Course
The $500,000 G1 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity went down Saturday, October 8 at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky - a 1 1/16 miles dirt test for some of the best two year olds in the land. John Oxley's 8-5 race favorite Classic Empire bounced back from a DNF in the Hopeful Stakes when he lost his rider and posted the three length victory. 18-1 shot Lookin at Lee finished second in the field of 12 while 42-1 longshot Wild Shot got up for third. No Dozing finished another head back in fourth as the 6-1 co-second choice and was followed in order by Gunnevera, Singing Bullet, the other 6-1 second choice Bitumen, Tiz Trevor, Blame Will, Perro Rojo, Holiday Bonus, and Honor Thy Father.
