La Coronel Wins Appalachian Stakes at Keeneland Racecourse
Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky was the scene of the $125,000 G3 Appalachian Stakes Presented by Japan Racing Association on Thursday, April 13 - a one mile turf test for three year old fillies. It was 7-2 second betting choice La Coronel that bested a quality field of 11 on Thursday, by a relatively easy 3 1/4 lengths. 34-1 shot Morticia finished a good second in her graded stakes debut with Proctor's Edge getting in for third at 7-1 odds in her stakes bow. Dream Dancing was fourth while Bellavais, Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner and 2-1 race favorite New Money Honey, Lull, Journey Home, Purely a Dream, Coasted and Like a Hurricane completed the order of finish. Dynatail and Ghostly Presence scratched.
