Danzing Candy Wins Lone Star Park Handicap at Lone Star Park
Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas was the scene of the $200,000 G3 Lone Star Park Handicap on Sunday, May 28. Horses three years old and upward took to Lone Star's muddy dirt track and raced 1 1/16 miles. Jim and Diane Basher's overwhelming 1-5 race favorite Danzing Candy under the guidance of Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith went virtually unchallenged from the gate and prevailed by an easy four lengths. 5-2 second choice Texas Chrome finished second in the field of just five with Shotgun Kowboy getting in for third at 10-1 odds. Neck 'n Neck was fourth while Carouse completed the order of finish.
