Connect Wins Pennsylvania Derby at Parx Racing

The $1.25 million Grade 2 Pennsylvania Derby went down Saturday, September 24 at Parx Racing in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. A competitive group of three year olds took to Parx's dirt track and races 1 1/8 miles. Late-developing 3-year-old, 10-1 shot Connect posted the upset in the field of 12 as he held off a serious challenge from Gun Runner who was sent off as the 5-1 second choice. 61-1 longshot Wild About Deb wound up a terrific third while another dismissed entry My Man Sam was fourth. Awesome Slew finished fifth, 6-5 favorite Nyquist faded and wound up a disappointing sixth and Exaggerator was seventh. Cupid, Summer Revolution, Discreet Lover, Sunny Ridge and Hit It Once More completed the order of finish.
