Noble Bird Wins Pimlico Special Stakes at Pimlico Race Course
Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland was the scene of the $300,000 Grade 3 Pimlico Special Stakes on Friday, May 20 - a 1 3/16 mile dirt test for horses three years old and upward. John Oxley's Noble Bird dominated a field that was unfortunately plagued by the omission of Stanford and Page McKenney, the one-two finishers in the April 23 Charles Town Classic who scratched from the race. Noble Bird bested the field of six by an astounding 11 1/4 lengths as the overwhelming 4-5 favorite while Idolo Portero wound up second as the 4-1 third choice, six lengths clear of the 47-1 Warrioroftheroses. 7-2 second choice Savoy Stomp was fourth with Golden Glint and Hesinfront completing the order of finish.
