Exaggerator Wins Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course

All eyes were on Pimlico Race Course this past weekend when the Second Jewel of this year's Triple Crown - the $1.5 million Grade 1 Preakness Stakes was run. Some of the best three year olds in the land converged and went 1 3/16 miles on Pimlico's dirt track looking to knock the terrific Nyquist off his perch. 5-2 second choice Exaggerator secured his biggest career victory in impressive fashion - by 3 1/2 lengths on a seemingly favorable sloppy track. 17-1 longshot Cherry Wine finished a good second in the field of 11 while 3-5 favorite and previously unbeaten Nyquist tired for third. Nyquist had beaten Exaggerator in four previous meetings. Stradivari, in his stakes debut, finished fourth while Lani, Laoban, Uncle Lino, Fellowship, Awesome Speed, Collected, and Abiding Star completed the order of finish.
