Smack Smack Wins Cornhusker Handicap at Prairie Meadows

The $300,000 Grade 3 Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap went down on Saturday July 2 at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa. Horses three years old and upward were featured as they took to Prairie Meadows dirt track and raced 1 1/8 miles. 5-year-old homebred, Closing Argument gelding and 16-1 shot Smack Smack provided the upset, emerging by a neck and snapping a seven race losing streak. 5-2 co-second choice, pacesetter Shotgun Kowboy faded to second while Pain and Misery got in for a good third at 14-1 odds. 2-1 favorite S'maverlous finished a disappointing fourth while Code West, Hawaakom, 5-2 Cyrus Alexander, Domain's Rap, and Eton Ridge completed the order of finish.
