Midnight Hawk Wins Sham Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - Only four entries lined up for the $100,000 Grade 3 Sham Stakes at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California on Saturday, January 11. Surprising considering it was the first major three year olds test of the season in Southern California. It was Bob Baffert trained 2-5 favorite Midnight Hawk that came out on top with the most experienced colt in the field - Kristo finishing second as the 2-1 second choice. In turn, Midnight Hawk earned a valuable 10 points toward qualification in to the Kentucky Derby in May. I'll Wrap It Up finished third, another nine lengths back while Ontology was fourth. Unfortunately Life Is a Joy and Top Fortitude scratched.
