Decked Out Wins American Oaks at Santa Anita Park

Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California played host to the $300,000 G1 American Oaks on Saturday, December 31. Three year old fillies were featured when they raced 1 1/4 miles on Santa Anita's turf track. It was 9-2 co-third choice Decked Out that came up late to edge out 4-1 second betting choice Sassy Little Lila by just a nose. 17-1 shot Lady Valeur finished third by half-length in the field of 13 while Dreamarcher was fourth and Barleysugar, Cheekaboo, 5-2 favorite Stays in Vegas, How Unusual, Queen Blossom, Sheeza Milky Way, Dynamic Mizzes K, and Mokat completed the order of finish. Mrs. Norris was scratched.
