Cheekaboo Wins Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita Park
The $200,000 Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes was contested Sunday, April 19 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California - a 1 1/8 mile turf race for three year old fillies. 23-1 longshot Cheekaboo with the legendary Mike Smith aboard upset the field for her first graded stakes win - by a head in the field of nine. 3-1 favorites were next - Be Mine finished second, just a nose ahead of the other horse sent off at 3-1 Stays in Vegas who wound up third. Decked Out was fourth while yet another entry that was sent to the post at 3-1 odds Lady Valeur finished fifth, followed by How Unusual, Gone to Bali, Jeremy's Legacy, and Where's the D, to complete the order of finish. Sutton's Smile scratched.
