Avenge Wins Rodeo Drive Stakes at Santa Anita Park

Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California was the scene of the $300,000 Grade 1 Rodeo Drive Stakes on Saturday, October 1. Fillies and mares three years old and upward took to Santa Anita's turf track and raced 1 1/4 miles. Ramona Bass's 5-1 second choice Avenge posted her second straight graded stakes score, led at every call and eventually prevailed by three quarters of a length. Avenge earned an automatic berth into the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf with the win. 2-1 favorite Zipessa finished second in the field of 12 with Frenzified getting third at 10-1 odds. Keri Belle was fourth while Tiz a Kiss, Majestic Heat, Fresh Feline, Elektrum, Real Smart, Sobradora Inc, Generosidade and Decked Out completed the order of finish. Nancy From Nairobi and Queen of The Sand scratched.
