Lord Nelson Wins Sprint Championship at Santa Anita Park

Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California hosted the $300,000 G1 Santa Anita Sprint Championship Stakes on Saturday, October 8. Horses three years old and upward were featured when they took to Santa Anita Park's dirt track and dashed six furlongs. Spendthrift Farm's, Bob Baffert trained overwhelming 1-2 favorite Lord Nelson continued his reign as King of the Southern California Sprints and in turn earned an automatic berth into the Breeders' Cup Sprint here in next month. Pacesetter and 23-2 longshot All Run finished a good second, 2 1/2 lengths back with 3-2 second choice Jazzy Times getting in for third in the field of just five. Cautious Giant and Anytime Anyplace completed the order of finish.
