City of Light Wins Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita Park

The $300,000 G1 Malibu Stakes was run Tuesday, December 26 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Some of the best three-year olds in the land took to Santa Anita's dirt track and raced seven furlongs. It was Michael McCarthy trained 7-1 shot City of Light that made the absolute most of his stakes debut, impressively winning by two lengths over California-bred 14-1 longshot Edwards Going Left who got in for second. Swale Stakes winner and 7-2 third choice Favorable Outcome finished third in the field of nine while 5-2 second choice Pavel, Irish Freedom, C Z Rocket, who was sent off as the slight 5-2 favorite, Dabster, Heartwood and The Street Fighter completed the order of finish.
