The $100,000 G3 Robert J. Frankel Stakes was contested Saturday, December 30 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Fillies and mares three years old and upward were featured when they lined up on Santa Anita's turf track and raced 1 1/8 miles. Abbondanza Racing and Medallion Racing's Midnight Crossing posted the upset win, emerging by a half-length for her first graded stakes score at 22-1 odds. 8-5 favorite- East Coast shipper Elysea's World made a strong bid but had to settle for second in the field of six with 9-1 shot Laseen also coming up late to claim third. Gliding By was fourth while 5-2 third choice Responsibleforlove, and Penjade, who was sent off at 2-1 completed the order of finish.
