Blue Tone Wins San Gabriel Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California was the scene of the $200,000 G2 San Gabriel Stakes on Saturday, January 7 - a 1 1/8 mile turf test that was moved to dirt after rainy conditions for horses four years old and upward. 6-1 shot Blue Tone took advantage of the conditions and prevailed for his first stakes wins by 1 1/4 lengths. Itsinthepost was second at 8-1 odds, 1 1/4 lengths ahead of 7-2 second choice Twentytwentyvision, who closed from far back to get third. Point Piper was fourth in the field that was trimmed to just eight while 8-5 favorite Ring Weekend was fifth and Perfectly Majestic, A Red Tie Day, and Quick Casablanca completed the order of finish. Conquest Daddyo, Flamboyant, Some in Tieme and Syntax all scratched.
