Keen Ice Wins Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course

Las Vegas, NV - Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York was the scene of the $1.6 million Travers Stakes on Saturday, August 29 - a 1 1/4 mile test for some of the best three year olds in the land - a race that was supposed to belong to American Pharoah - supposed to. It was Dale Romans trained Keen Ice that pulled off the huge upset, ending American Pharoah's eight race win streak - as the 16-1 fifth choice. A tiring American Pharoah finished a disappointing second as the overwhelming 1-5 favorite while 7-1 third choice Frosted got up for third. Upstart, Texas Red, Smart Transition, Frammento, Tale of Verve, Mid Ocean and King of New York completed the order of finish.
