Arrogate Wins Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course

The biggest race of the weekend - the $1.25 million Grade 1 Travers Stakes took place Saturday, August 27 at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York - a 1 1/4 mile dirt test for an impressive group of horses three years old and upward. Juddmonte Farms' Bob Baffert trained 11-1 shot Arrogate prevailed in his graded stakes debut in track record time for 1 1/4 miles - by an incredible 13 1/2 lengths. 5-1 second choice American Freedom finished a ways back in second while Steve Asmussen-trained 9-1 shot Gun Runner claimed third. Gift Box was fourth followed by Governor Malibu, Connect, Creator, My Man Sam, Destin, Forever d'Oro, 2-1 favorite Exaggerator who was a disappointing eleventh, Jim Dandy winner Laoban, and Anaximandros. Majesto was scratched.
